AV - MAC Technical Support Specialist

The AV / MAC Technical Support Specialist serves as the primary Information Technology (IT) support individual for all Audio Visual and MAC related needs of the College. Responsible for the management, maintenance and support of all College owned Audio Visual equipment and its use by Olin community members. Serves as primary technical support specialist for all MAC related hardware and software support needs including; installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting. As a member of our IT Help Desk team, s/he will assist other team members as necessary to support the Olin community in meeting its objectives.
Duties:
- Responsible for the management, maintenance, and support of all Audio Visual equipment.
- Responsible for inventory control and asset management of all AV and MAC equipment.
- Support and coordinate all campus Audio Visual needs and events.
- Train community members in the proper use of various Audio Visual equipment and applications.
- Provide video production services, including video-taping and post production for official college wide events.
- Assist faculty, students and staff with AV related projects as needed to support the curriculum and college-wide programming.
- Supervise the use of selected specialty AV equipment.
- Supervise AV student workers.
- Provide AV support for occasional off hour events as necessary (evenings, weekends, and holidays).
- Write technical documents and train users in proper use of MAC hardware, software and peripherals as well as audio visual equipment.
- Assist in recommending and purchasing hardware and software.
- Install, support, troubleshoot and repair MAC hardware and peripherals in a heterogeneous networked environment.
- Diagnose and resolve MAC software and hardware problems or conflicts via telephone, remotely or on-site in a timely, customer-focused manner.
- Responsible for patches, version upgrades and related documentation for all supported applications and systems.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Able to work well and learn new skills in a fast paced, rapidly changing technical environment
- Able to communicate effectively (verbally and written) with individuals at all levels within the organization
- Able to work under pressure, prioritize support requests, and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions
- Willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays periodically and as necessary to support AV event needs
Minimum Requirements:
- College degree preferred
- Strong multimedia background with a working knowledge of various applications and tools (ex; Avid, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Pro Tools, etc)
- Minimum 2 years experience supporting Audio Visual equipment preferably in an academic environment (ex; Crestron & Extron Control Systems, LCD projectors, document cameras, media players, sound systems, video conferencing, mixers, switches, etc.)
- Minimum of 2 years experience using, troubleshooting and supporting MAC hardware and software (ex; email, printing, web browsing, productivity software, etc.)
- Experience supporting MAC hardware in a wired and wireless networking environment
Preferred skills/experience:
- Experience with PC hardware, Windows operating systems and related applications
- Supporting MAC systems in a Windows Active Directory environment
- Experience supporting Intel based MACs running Windows operating systems (Bootcamp, Parallels, vmware)
