Steve Longfield, PAB Chair, with his wife, Charlotte, and their Olin Student, Stephen (Jr.)
Just two years ago, it’s very likely that my wife and I were feeling all of the same emotions you are feeling now. Our son, Stephen, was leaving home and heading off to a college that was just in its infancy. He was sure he belonged at Olin College, and my wife and I were impressed with everything we saw and heard during campus visits and Candidates’ Weekend, so we supported his decision. How right we were!
Olin is, quite simply, a phenomenal place. The level of academic excellence and the superior quality of student life are matched by the dedication of an outstanding faculty and the vision of an administration committed to a culture of innovation. During the orientation program, the message we heard was: ‘We think so highly of these young people that we have created an environment for them to reach as far as they can imagine. We believe in them just like you do’.
Every parent at Olin is immensely proud. For the last 18 years you have made it your priority to develop the potential of a child with considerable talents. If your son or daughter decides to enroll at Olin, rest assured you will enter a remarkable community of parents from all over the country, parents who are involved and committed and who are extraordinarily excited about being part of this wonderful journey. I invite you to become involved* and stay connected to Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering, where the challenges are exhilarating, the gifts are great and the rewards are many. What else could you imagine for that amazing young person of yours?
Sincerely,
Steve Longfield (P’09)
