As Vice President of Consumer Engagement at Amazon, Chee is responsible for Amazon services that attract customers to Amazon early in their shopping journey. This includes Amazon Reviews, Wishlists, Performance Marketing, Personalization and Mobile Shopping. He is also responsible for Amazon’s Global IT team.
Prior to Amazon, Chee was Vice President of Engineering at Google, responsible for Google’s real time communications efforts like Hangouts and Google’s Chrome efforts in the Kirkland/Seattle region. His 20% project was being the site lead for the Google Seattle and Kirkland offices overseeing logistical operations of the site.
Chee started his professional career with a love of writing code. He was the development lead responsible for the Windows 95 Start Menu and Taskbar among other user interface elements. He led engineering teams on Internet Explorer, Windows Mobile, and Xbox Live.
Chee was born in Malaysia. He grew up in the south in South Carolina and Kentucky before going to college at MIT, where he interned with Hewlett Packard Labs to earn his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in computer science.
Chee and his wife, Christine, live in the Seattle area. They are parents to Arden (bio-medical engineering student at Johns Hopkins) and Mira. Chee holds a 5th degree blackbelt in karate and teaches locally. The whole family continues to be crazy active soccer players.
