The end of the summer is almost upon us!
It's so hard to believe that it was almost three months ago that the school was gearing up for Graduation. At that point, the whole summer stretched before us. We were prepping for our summer workers to join us (Aidan and Alex, who rapidly became two of my favorite people on this planet). The August updates to the Common Application seemed in the distant future, as did Women's Open House. We spent the summer hosting visitors for info sessions and tours, prepping the office for the fall, cleaning up the website, and taking some much-needed vacation!
And now, all of sudden, I feel like I blinked and it's August. Our student workers departed weeks ago (sniff... sniff....) and the campus is empty in that bizarre two-week quiet period before everyone moves back in. It's so strange to not have any students around.
But, we in the Office of Admission are SO excited for the upcoming year. There are some amazing changes in the near future (including a massive website overhaul). We're going to spiffy up the OLINsider as well, giving you diverse content from a variety of student voices. We have an extraordinarily engaged alumni group that's working with the Student Recruiting Program, as well as a huge number of parents who are so excited to help out at admissions events. Moreso, we have the incoming Class of 2017, who is moving onto campus next weekend. This November marks my first year at Olin, and the Class of 2017 was the first set of applications I evaluated (so I'm particularly attached!). Can't wait to have you around!
I'm going to leave you guys with a great, exhaustive list that I found called "The Big College To-Do List". This goes through, step-by-step, all the things you might want to take care of before leaving for school. Check it out: http://collegelife.about.com/od/beforeyouarrive/a/todolist.htm
When ya'll are moving back into the dorm rooms, make sure you stop by and say hi. We've missed you!
