Message to Faculty, March 2, 2020

Dear Colleagues,

On the heels of Friday’s Community Health Advisory, the Academic Life leadership team would like to share some additional thoughts with you as you plan your course(s) this semester.

1. It is possible that we may see increased student absences due to sickness in the near term (including Babson and Wellesley students). Start thinking about ways to accommodate absences and alternative ways to engage students as needed.

2. If you are not feeling well, stay home and utilize Olin resources, as appropriate, like Zoom or VPN. If your own teaching capacity becomes affected, please let the faculty Associate Deans know.

3. Strongly encourage students with any respiratory or fever symptoms to stay away from classes.

4. Start thinking about changes you may need to make to the second half of the semester if there are more severe disruptions in student attendance or campus health as a result of spring break related absences, increased illness or quarantines.

5. Think creatively about how to tweak course delivery in order to meet course learning outcomes if a campus quarantine becomes necessary.

If you should have any feedback or questions please feel free to send an email to the faculty Associate Deans.

Stay healthy,

The Academic Life Leadership Team
