Dr. Paulina Achurra joined us from Brazil where she was an adjunct professor of Engineering at Insper, São Paulo. She is passionate about biotech and engineering education. For the last three years Dr. Achurra has been fully committed to the creation of the Insper Engineering School, working closely with our collaborators at Olin. As part of the school founding faculty she participated in the design of a competence-based curriculum that incorporates hands-on activities from the start, and values collaborative learning and team work. Prior to joining Insper, Dr. Achurra did a post-doc at the Medical Biochemistry Department of the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, working on Alzheimer’s Disease research. She worked on the dynamics of beta-amyloid oligomers binding to neurons using dSTORM super-resolution microscopy, a key process in the development of Alzheimer’s. She is a chemical engineer from Universidad de Chile, and holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering, both from Stanford University.
