Biography

Sarah joined Olin as an Adjunct Professor in 2012.  She’s been designing user experiences for over 25 years. In 1991, she co-founded The Hiser Group in Australia, an interaction design agency. Through Hiser she helped establish the field of user-centered design in Australia.

After returning to the USA in 2002, Sarah worked at The MathWorks as a senior interaction designer and Constant Contact as Director of User Experience. In 2006, Sarah established Boston based Sarah Bloomer & Co to follow her passion for design research, design facilitation, and UX team development and coaching, that is, transforming UX practitioners in to better, customer focused designers. Work includes client development for startups such as Scratch and Trustlayers, improving design processes and skills for clients including Buildium, Carbonite and Kronos Inc, rapid complex application design for Verizon Terremark and Syncsort and in-depth experience research for Sherwin-Williams and Forrester Research. In 2012 Sarah established the UX Managers Get Togethers to enable established UX teams to improve their practice. Underlying every project is a passion to guide and lead clients to better understand their clients and define customer centered products and services.

Sarah has delivered papers, tutorials and workshops at user experience conferences in Australia, Asia and the USA. She has taught user centered design, screen design and UX team development to hundreds of practitioners worldwide. She served as a master’s supervisor to multimedia students at The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
