Overview

Olin College owes its existence to the generosity of Franklin W. Olin and the charity of the F.W. Olin Foundation. We therefore honor philanthropy as a virtue, emphasizing service to others as a critical part of our institution's culture. Each of us - faculty, staff, students and friends - is motivated by the daily knowledge that we are all building and evolving Olin. We invite all who share our vision to join us in building the outstanding institution.

Olin's academic and student life programs work together to provide a unique educational experience. The college strives to foster these attributes in all students:

  • A deep appreciation and comprehension of the principles of engineering analysis and design;
  • A broad knowledge of social and humanistic contexts;
  • An understanding of the principles and practice of entrepreneurship as a process of fulfilling human needs and creating value;
  • The ability to articulate a vision and see it to fruition; and
  • A dedication to intellectual vitality, community involvement, and lifelong personal growth.

The curriculum is based on recommendations from national authorities such as the National Science Foundation and the National Academy of Engineering and places emphasis on project-based learning; interdisciplinary teaching; teamwork and communications skills; and attention to institutions. Olin is featured in the latest edition of the Princeton Review's annual guidebook. The Wall Street Journal, IEEE Spectrum, NECN, NPR, Fortune Small Business, Business Week and other national media outlets have also featured Olin and its community members.

The most popular and easy way to make your donation to Olin College is by credit card through our online donation system. Cash and check are also accepted. If you wish to be excluded from our annual report please notate that on the memo line of your check or in your response. You may indicate how you wish your gift to be applied.

Every gift to Olin College is tax deductible (Olin's federal tax number is 061-519-057).
