"More than anything, I love learning new things and I gravitated toward electrical engineering because I knew absolutely nothing about it. For the past nine months I have been doing research with Professor Oscar Mur-Miranda looking at applications for electrical engineering in the developing world. This research took me to Zambia this summer, where we ran hands-on lessons to teach basic electrical skills. I really enjoyed the technical challenge of designing the systems used in these lessons, keeping in mind all the constraints of the developing world. It was hugely rewarding to see how empowered the participants were when learning these new skills."
