Might as Well Jump
For their Elecanism class, a team of Olin College students designed and built a mechanical penny arcade game. The game is a mechanical jump rope where the player attempts to jump over a rope as many times as possible. The user begins by inserting a coin, enters a platform and begins to jump rope as two pendulum arms swing 90 degrees in each direction. The arms pause for certain intervals, which get shorter as the game continues. There is a scoreboard that keeps track of the number of successful jumps. The students built the platform, designed the mechanical and electrical system and More on the design of the Jump game and the engineering behind it can be found here.
