The goal of this year’s project is to produce a second iteration of Ruina, a mobile toolkit for crash data collection that follows the Department of Transportation’s data collection guidelines and is usable on the scene of a collision. The app will support versatile data export formats to meet the needs of local, state, and federal agencies. Over the course of the project, we will design and implement robust data storage, refine the existing user interface, and conduct user testing. All this with the goal that Ruina 1.0 will automate and standardize data collection, enhance officers’ experience, increase data relevance, and improve overall road safety.
