Avinash Uttamchandani (he/him) is an electrical engineer, roboticist, and educator.

He currently is doing robotics R&D at the Toyota Research Institute, focusing on soft, tactile sensing for robotics - specifically in applications that amplify, not replace, humans. Prior to that he has worked as both a freelance electrical engineer for electronics startups and was a Preceptor in Electrical Engineering and Design Thinking at Harvard's School of Engineering and Applied Science. Current work is focused on engineering custom embedded networking hardware to enable dense and multi-modal sensing in large robot systems, as well as developing novel soft tactile sensors.
