Gillian Epstein

Dr. Epstein’s work focuses on empowering others to examine, craft, and communicate compelling stories about who they are and what they care about.

Once upon a time, a long time ago, she made the untraditional and exciting leap from studying narration in the nineteenth-century American novel to actively helping others narrate their personal and professional stories. Drawing from a range of expository and creative narrative techniques, Dr. Epstein collaborates with students, teachers, program groups, organizations, and companies to help them communicate in original and impactful ways. She designs customized teaching and learning experiences that approach writing as an accessible and communal endeavor, leveraging teamwork and audience reception to provide constructive feedback writers can immediately apply. Dr. Epstein also designs and coaches storytelling experiences that deepen the perspective of both the speaker and the audience, in service of developing identity and creating community.
