Dear Faculty, Staff, Students and Families,
We learned today that an on-campus Olin student has tested positive for COVID-19. The student is being monitored by Babson Health. In accordance with Olin’s COVID-19 protocols the student has been given isolation instructions and their identified close contacts have been told to quarantine.
The Office of Student Affairs is in touch with the student and is arranging for all the necessary supports at this time. I know you join us in wishing this student well during this time.

This positive result serves as an important reminder that we must continue to harden the Olin bubble by following all health and safety guidelines outlined by the Olin Ahead Coordinating Team.
If you are on campus, you must continue to stay 6 feet apart, wear your mask and wash your hands regularly. For students, make sure you are not having close contact with anyone outside of your household group (defined as being within six feet for fifteen minutes or more in a 24-hour period). With these precautions, we can continue to keep our campus community safe.
Please also continue to monitor Olin’s COVID Dashboard on a regular basis as it remains the primary source of information about test results. This dashboard is updated regularly. To date, we have performed over 3,500 tests with four positive results.
Our testing program continues to provide invaluable help. It is catching positive tests in asymptomatic community members, and reinforcing that our prevention efforts, when practiced, are working.
We know and understand that compliance with our COVID-19 policies and procedures requires patience on the part of each of us. Our community has continued to take remarkable steps to keep everyone safe and healthy and your continued commitment will keep this semester going successfully.

I hope you are well. I am writing to let you know that a student on campus has tested positive for COVID-19. Other residential students who are considered to be close contacts of this student have been identified, notified, and instructed to quarantine. Students who have been told to isolate or quarantine may not leave their personal room for any reason unless instructed to do so by College or Babson Health staff. This is especially important as members of the Dining staff will be entering the hallways to deliver meals several times per day. I am sharing this so you have some information for your own purposes. If you have not been notified then you have not been identified as a close contact of the positive student and do not need to quarantine at this time.
As always, strict adherence to our testing and symptom reporting protocols is extremely important to our ability to control any possible spread. It is also very important to remember that the main reason we have expectations for physical distancing and travel off campus is to limit the possibility of infection and spread. Also, students can always choose to limit their exposure to others by taking meals to go and not visiting household members in their rooms. I know these expectations can be challenging, but they become even more important as the cases in our region continue to rise.
