Reconfigurable Antenna for Mismatch Mitigation
The Raytheon-Olin SCOPE team altered a radio frequency (RF) system to include a variable impedance transformer in order to maximize power output and efficiency. In practical antenna systems, properties of these systems fluctuate due to various physical and environmental conditions. As a system changes, the impedance mismatch presented results in a loss of power. The Raytheon-Olin SCOPE team explored methods of dynamically compensating for mismatches as a function of system conditions to improve the quality and power of the output signal.
