NEWS: Alumna-Led National Math Stars to Receive $30 Million NSF Investment to Support Exceptional Young Math Students
National Math Stars (NMS), founded by CEO Ilana Walder-Biesanz ’13, announced that the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships (TIP) will invest $30 million to expand its work identifying and supporting mathematically exceptional young students.
According to the announcement from NMS, over the next four years, this investment will allow them to expand its programs from ten states to a projected 75% of the U.S. population.
“We aim to find extraordinary young mathematicians in every part of the country and foster their talents,” said Ilana Walder-Biesanz '13, Founder and CEO of National Math Stars. “These children are a future generation of researchers, inventors, and founders – but early support is essential to make those futures possible. NSF's investment will allow us to grow our programs faster than we imagined.”
At Olin, I got to do a lot of things that spoke to all my different interests, from building a cake-frosting robot to acting in and directing theater performances
After graduation, I chose to explore some of these interests even further."
