Luke Morris ’17 was named Olin’s newest trustee at the College’s October 2023 board meeting.

Prior to joining the Battery team, Morris was a member of the Chassis Engineering team at Tesla where he designed the foundation brake systems for Model S and Model X, including the standard fitment brakes and ultra-high performance carbon ceramic brakes.

While an undergrad at Olin, Morris was a founder and the first project manager of the Formula SAE team: Olin Electric Motorsports. He designed and built the Mk.I and Mk. II vehicles.

“I’m excited to reengage with the college at a deep level and contribute to Olin’s mission to transform engineering education,” said Morris. “As a practicing engineer on the board, I bring a perspective on the wants and needs of industry. As an alumnus, I hope I can add my perspective on what made attending Olin so special, as well as contribute to Olin’s future.”

Morris lives in Northern California with his wife and their dogs. They enjoy going on hikes, snowboarding in Tahoe, cycling the Bay Area’s hills, and enjoying the amazing food scene of San Francisco.
