Applying for Aid

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The FAFSA is available annually on October 1st* for the upcoming academic year. The Olin College Federal School Code is 039463. Families interested in applying for need-based aid should complete the FAFSA as soon as possible - keeping in mind the deadlines noted below.

*Please note that the 2024-25 FAFSA was released on December 30th, 2023.

2024-25 FAFSA Delays

There is a significant delay in processing data from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) this year. This is the case for all colleges in the United States.

The Education Department has advised institutions that we should start receiving processed FAFSAs in the first half of March. The applications will be processed in the order they were received by the department. Over several weeks, Olin will receive the processed forms assigned to us. Paper FAFSAs will be processed after the online processing is complete.

The Education Department will notify you when your FAFSA is processed and sent to Olin. You will be able to see on your portal when Olin receives the data. Olin will let you know when your financial aid offer is ready for review. As needed, we will be in touch with additional information. We appreciate your patience.

For the Class of 2028 – We hope to send out financial aid offers within two weeks of receiving your FAFSA.

For Current Olin Students – We will begin reviewing your FAFSA after you have pre-registered for Fall 2024.

Details + Deadlines

If you wish to apply for need-based aid, the priority deadline for Olin to receive your FAFSA is February 15th. We do not require the CSS Profile.

Need-based aid is offered to U.S. Citizens and Eligible Non-Citizens

Financial aid offers for admitted students will be delivered with the admission decision. These offers are considered tentative if verification is required. If we need additional documentation it will be noted in your portal.

Olin should receive your renewal FAFSA by January 1st* to renew your need-based aid for the upcoming year.  Students should monitor their student portal to view required documents.  Please respond promptly and submit additional forms if necessary. Currently enrolled students are required to submit verification documents prior to receipt of a financial aid offer.

*NOTE: For the 2024-25 academic year the FAFSA was released December 30th, 2023.  Due to this late release, current students should complete their FAFSA by March 1, 2024 to be considered for aid for the 2024-25 academic year.

Olin College verifies all applications selected by the Department of Education as well as institutionally selected applications. We will notify students if required to participate in this process.

All families who are eligible to use the direct data exchange between the IRS and Department of Education should do so. This will simplify verification documentation requirements.  Please respond promptly to requests for documentation.

  • Incoming students should note that their initial financial aid offer is considered tentative until outstanding documentation is received.

  • Returning students will be required to submit verification documents prior to receipt of a financial aid offer.
