Frances Haugen ’06 is a data scientist from Iowa who this fall provided thousands of internal Facebook documents to the media and to federal regulators and elected officials to publicly reveal deceptive statements and practices by the company.
She did so to “help prompt change at the social-media giant.”
Haugen officially revealed herself as the whistleblower in a 60 Minutes interview on October 3, 2021. The Olin College alumna says she shared the documents to motivate change.
