NSF Plankton Research with Jerry Goss ‘23

Check out this "Scientist Selfie" Video where our own Jerry Goss talks about his NSF research this spring at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS). This new series by NSF (in which Jerry was selected as the first to be featured!) offers viewers an intimate look into a researcher/scientist's life and work, in the field or in the lab.

In the first segment, Jerry talks about his summer research working with BIOS on this NSF-funded project. He is using his machine learning skills to classify plankton species, making it easier for scientists to uncover global environmental changes.

The goal of the series to inspire students to think about pursuing a career in STEM.
