Experience Olin

Olin College of Engineering is more than just a laboratory for innovation in engineering education on our own campus.

We are dedicated to co-creating transformational educational experiences with academic partners around the world. We support and guide leaders in education, business, and government seeking to change educational institutions and systems to spur the innovation necessary to take on society’s big challenges.

    • Our campus visits generally include a student-led tour, an informal meeting with a member of our academic leadership team, and lunch with faculty and students if your schedule permits.
    • We recommend allocating half a day, either in the morning or the afternoon.
    • If you would like a longer visit with detailed presentations / workshops, we can arrange that at an additional cost.
  • If you are traveling from far away or have additional time for a deeper dive, we can arrange to provide a more immersive visit experience ranging from one full day on campus to several days of engagement.

This could include detailed presentations about aspects of the Olin College innovation approach and campus experience or one of our many workshops.

Curricular Innovation

For institutions embarking on substantial curricular change efforts, we offer a hands-on way to partner with Olin.

July 8-12, 2024

Building on the skills developed in Olin’s globally recognized Summer Institute program, Summer Studio provides educators with an intensive curriculum design experience that leverages the resources of Olin’s unique campus environment.

Learn more
  • The Summer Studio program is designed for new and experienced faculty members, administrative leaders, and professional staff of educational institutions that are committed to making a positive impact in the world through innovative and effective approaches to teaching and learning.

Students and alumni are also welcome to participate in the program as curricular co-designers.

Ideally, all team members will have attended the Summer Institute or an equivalent program that provides a foundation in educational design practices.

  • Each team of 4–6 participants spends four days working on a curricular design project with coaching by Olin faculty facilitators, followed by a half-day retrospective session that concludes with clear next steps.

Participants have the opportunity to interact with Olin faculty, staff, and students who can provide subject matter expertise, feedback on prototypes, and insights drawn from their own experiences.

  • Each team is provided with a dedicated space for project work, as well as access to Olin’s academic facilities.

Olin can also create a customized Studio-style program with a similar format at other locations to suit your needs.

Deep Institution-Building Collaboration

For groups building a new program, a whole new institution, or a fundamentally different curricular approach, Olin offers customized collaborative consulting projects bringing together your team’s vision and the Olin team’s expertise.

Tailored to your needs and current state, Olin will design an engagement to help you address the unique challenges in your particular context.

Olin has engaged with groups building new institutions from a blank slate or building new programs (engineering or otherwise) in existing institutions in the US and abroad. We design a custom engagement ranging from months to years, supporting the leadership team and faculty in building programs that can transform education and engineering for the future.
