Orthopedic Surgical Device Development

The SCOPE team looked for opportunities to expand Mitek Sports Medicine’s line of orthopedic surgical devices. The team applied human-centered design principles to develop a deep understanding of procedures and identify problems with existing devices through surgeon interviews, market analyses and hands-on experience. Through these activities, the team developed potential concepts for innovative new instruments. Based on simulation, lab testing and surgeon feedback, the team refined one of these concepts into a usable proof-of-concept prototype that can be used as a basis for future development by Mitek Sports Medicine.
