Senior Plant & Operations Maintenance (Facilities) Director

Olin College of Engineering is working with our facilities partner, Aramark, to search for our next Facilities Director.  While the position is formally employed through Aramark, the incumbent works on Olin’s campus in Needham, MA, and is a key member of the Olin community.  Our campus includes five major buildings, one small building, and several houses on 75 acres.  The Olin community values fighting for equity and justice, offering our trust and earning the trust of others, continually striving to learn, grow and share, protecting and sustaining our natural, built and financial resources, and collaborating and connecting with others and we expect our next director to share our values.

The Facilities Services function at Olin includes maintenance, grounds, custodial services, mail services, and other campus services.  The Facilities Services team is a critical partner for Olin and a key part of the larger Campus Operations team.  The director leads several direct reports, with the entire Facilities Services staff being approximately 20 people.  In addition to the functions listed above, the director is also an important part of the capital and maintenance planning and implementations processes, assists with the operation of major campus events, is a part of Olin’s safety team, and consults on various facilities compliance requirements.

The Plant & Operations Maintenance Director is a management position responsible for developing and executing custodial and maintenance solutions to meet customer needs. Responsible for servicing and/or maintaining a physical location or site to client specifications and financials.

Leadership

• Directs the work of at least two full-time employees or their equivalent
• Makes or influences employment decisions affecting the team, including hiring, promotions, and other changes in status
• Leads, mentors, engages, and develops teams to maximize their contributions, including recruiting, assessing, training, coaching, and managing performance
• Coach employees by creating a shared understanding about what needs to be achieved and how it is to be achieved
• Leverages Aramark's coaching model to engage and develop team members to their fullest potential
• Rewards and recognizes employees
• Ensures individual and all team performance meets objectives and client expectations
• Plans and leads daily team briefings

Client Relationship

• Responsible for developing and executing maintenance solutions to meet customer needs
• Executes facilities maintenance and upkeep following predefined specifications
• Ensure maintenance services appropriately connects to the Executional Framework
• Ensure safety and sanitation standards in all operations are compliant with Aramark and client regulations
• Identifies client needs and communicates operational progress
• Delivers and models WEST as foundation for excellent customer service

Financial Performance

• Ensures the completion and maintenance of profit and loss (P&L) or client budget statements
• Delivers client and company financial targets
• Adopts all Aramark processes and systems, understands performance metrics, data, orders, and inventory trends; educate teams on key levers to improve margins

• Requires at least 5 years of experience in maintenance trades (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, electrical)
• Requires at least 0-2 years of experience in a management role
• Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Ability to manage as part of a larger team or manage a function independently and without direct supervision
• Ability to multi-task
