NEWS: Olin featured in The Princeton Review Guide to Green Colleges: 2025 Edition
Olin is featured in the Princeton Review’s 2025 Guide to Green Colleges.
The colleges chosen for this edition of the Guide were based on a 2023-2024 survey of administrators at nearly 600 colleges about their institutions' sustainability-related policies, practices and programs. The Princeton Review also surveyed students attending the colleges about their "green" campus experiences. Green College selections were based on more than 25 data points from the surveys.
Olin received a Green Rating of 80 on a 60-99 scale. These ratings were based on institutional data covering these key factors:
- Whether students have a quality of life on campus that is both healthy and sustainable.
- How well a school is preparing students for employment in an increasingly green economy.
- How environmentally responsible a school's policies are.
“At Olin we are working towards ensuring the well-being of the Earth and its inhabitants through how we work together as a community, through the experiences we provide in and outside the classroom and through our operations and infrastructure plans,” said Claire Rodgers, Associate Director of Sustainability and Campus Engineering.
Over the 2023-2024 academic year, Olin faculty, staff and students worked together
to develop College as a Living Lab (CaLL), a strategic initiative inspired by the College's vision of Engineering for Everyone and Olin’s Climate Action Plan. These initiatives position Olin as an experimental test bed, using the lens of sustainability to reimagine every aspect of how we teach, learn, live and work together, catalyzing transformation within and outside our campus.
"We are delighted to recommend Olin College to students who want their ‘best-fit’ college to also be a 'green' one," said Rob Franek, The Princeton Review's Editor-in-Chief. “Olin, which offers excellent academics, also demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainability in its campus programs, policies and practices.”
Earlier this year, Olin was named one of the Nation’s Best Colleges in the Princeton Review. In the edition, Olin received high marks for several categories, including “Best Student Support and Counseling Services” and “Great Financial Aid.”
