The SCOPE team worked with the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care through a user-oriented collaborative design process to improve on the current family user experience finding child care with a redesign of the Child Care Search tool, making it faster and easier for families to find the resources they need.

As part of New Balance’s continual work to improve associates' work experience while maintaining high-quality standards, the SCOPE students will build from last year's SCOPE team to develop a highly-automated solution, creating tooling that reduces the manual tests and improves the consistency of the quality check.

The 2022-23 Pfizer SCOPE team built a prototype that augments the information search capabilities of Pfizer clinical research colleagues when responding to IP handling queries from clinical trial sites, thereby minimizing wait times for patients. 

Utilizing Blockchain For Clinical Supply Chains

The Moderna SCOPE team developed an open-source lab orchestration solution, improving the speed and quality of automated biotech labs. ​

New Balance is dedicated to increasing manufacturing within the United States and building new technology into their automated manufacturing processes. The Manufacturing Innovation SCOPE team designed and prototyped solutions that automate several critical, labor-intensive steps in materials processing for shoe manufacturing. Automating these steps in the manufacturing process increase operator safety and reduce production time.

Partnering with the Santos Family Foundation and the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, the team created a free national tool that allows communities to generate interactive HIN maps and understand the relationship between safety, equity, and other contextual factors. 

Microbial Communities and Sustainability

Olin’s SCOPE team implemented commercial low bandwidth satellite connectivity compatibility into the LUX system, LineVision’s patented contactless LiDAR scanning service; doing so allows LineVIsion to expand coverage to include remote areas with insufficient cellular coverage. This new system will ultimately improve the capacity, resiliency, and safety of the grid.
